Brakes must work and feel normal
A vehicle in traffic must have brakes that work to the vehicle's specification. That means a firm pedal, brake action on all wheels and no squeal, vibration or pull to one side under braking. If you notice abnormal pedal feel or hear scraping from the brakes, deal with it before the next trip — the brake is not a system you can defer. Under Fordonsförordningen 6 kap the periodic inspection measures braking performance, but the check also happens every time you sit at the wheel.
