What does the sign mean?
You must stop before the crossing road, route or track area.
Where it applies
- Stop at the stop line.
- If there is no stop line, stop before you enter the crossing road.
- After stopping you may go only if that causes no danger or obstruction.
Exam trap
You must stop even if the road is completely clear. Slowing down is not enough.
Do not mix up with
Give way: there you need not stop if the road is clear.
