How police signal you to stop
Police can order you to stop in two ways: • Hand signal: an officer on the road raises a straight arm means stop (Traffic Ordinance, Ch. 2 §1) • Blue lights and siren from a police car behind you, often paired with "STOP POLIS" shown in the rear window You are legally required to stop. Failing to do so is an offence under the Traffic Ordinance, Ch. 2 §1, and results in a fine. Deliberately fleeing can be classed as reckless driving (Road Traffic Offences Act §1), which can lead to licence revocation under the Driving Licence Act, Ch. 5 §3.
