What does the sign mean?
You may not drive faster than the speed on the sign.
Where it applies
- The speed applies until another speed limit is given, or up to the sign End of temporary speed limit, Pedestrian street or Walking-pace zone.
- The sign need not be repeated after a junction if the same speed applies on the crossing road.
Exam trap
Unlike most prohibition signs, the limit does not end at the next junction.

Recommended maximum speed: that is a recommendation, this is a limit.
