What does the sign mean?
The line shows the boundary between lanes.
Where it applies
- A centre line separates lanes for opposite directions.
- A lane line separates lanes in the same direction.
- A centre line can also mark the middle of a cycle path.
Exam trap
The line looks the same in both cases. Look at the road: is traffic going the same way or opposite ways?
Do not mix up with
Warning line: long dashes and short gaps, warning that crossing is unsuitable.
