How to pass Trafikverket's 2026 driving theory test — the complete guide

1. Drive to conditions, not to the sign. "Adapted speed" is a repeating theme — in slippery, foggy or dark conditions the law requires you to slow, even if the posted limit says 90.
2. Don't confuse yield with stop. A stop sign requires wheels not moving — a rolling stop is a violation.
3. The Swedish zebra law (since 2000): at an unguarded pedestrian crossing you must yield to pedestrians about to cross, not only those already on the asphalt.
4. Emergency vehicles always win. Even on a main road, you yield to emergency vehicles with lights and sirens.
5. Read the whole question. Words like "never", "only", "primarily" and "except" change the meaning entirely and get missed under time pressure.

Tips for test day

• ID document — without a valid Swedish driving licence, passport or national ID card you cannot sit the test. Check the expiry date the day before.
• Arrive at least 15 minutes early — Trafikverket may turn away latecomers.
• Eat properly that morning. 50 minutes of focused reading demands concentration.
• If you're stuck: skip and come back. All questions count equally, so one moment of hesitation shouldn't cost three easy points.
