Corrections and updates

The book was verified against Swedish law as it stood in October 2026. Traffic law changes, and monetary amounts — congestion charges, tolls, vehicle tax, fixed penalties — change more often than the rules do. Every correction we issue is published here.

If you are studying for a test, check this page before relying on any figure printed in the book.

Holding the first edition? Its page iv says it was verified in August 2026. The second edition was rechecked against the statute text in October 2026 and corrects every item below, along with many smaller ones. The free download is now the second edition.

  1. Chapter 1, the risk courses

    The book says
    You may not book either test until both risk courses are done.
    It should say
    You can book a test with a valid learner permit. Both risk courses must be completed before you sit the test.
    Why
    A mistake. Körkortslagen 3 kap. 4 b § ties the risk courses to taking the test, not to booking it.

  2. Chapter 1, the probationary period

    The book says
    Two years' probation from the day of issue.
    It should say
    Two years' probation from the day of the test.
    Why
    A mistake. Körkortslagen 3 kap. 18 § counts the probationary period from the day of the test.

  3. Chapters 3 and 9, supplementary plates with times

    The book says
    Plain black digits: Monday to Friday.
    It should say
    Plain digits apply on weekdays other than the day before a Sunday or public holiday. Bracketed digits apply on the day before a Sunday or public holiday, usually a Saturday. Red digits apply on Sundays and public holidays. In Swedish law Saturday is a weekday.
    Why
    A mistake. This is how Vägmärkesförordningen (2007:90) defines the plate times.

  4. Chapter 5, emergency vehicles

    The book says
    Blue lights without a siren usually mean the vehicle is moving but not responding to an emergency.
    It should say
    Make way for an emergency vehicle showing blue lights, with or without a siren. Making way never means driving against a red light.
    Why
    A mistake. Trafikförordningen 2 kap. 5 § applies to blue lights alone.

  5. Chapter 11, medicines

    The book says
    Medicines that can affect the ability to drive carry a red triangle on the packaging.
    It should say
    The red warning triangle was phased out of Swedish medicine packaging between 2005 and 2007. Read the package leaflet and ask your doctor or pharmacist.
    Why
    Out of date when printed.

  6. Chapter 14, dimensions and the B96 licence

    The book says
    2.55 m wide, 4.5 m high and 24 m long … B96 … Obtained through training and an assessment rather than a separate full test.
    It should say
    A vehicle may be at most 2.60 m wide, and Sweden has no general height limit. B96 needs a special driving test, but no new theory test.
    Why
    A mistake. See Trafikförordningen 4 kap. 17 § and Körkortslagen 2 kap. 7 a §.

  7. Chapter 15, duties after an accident

    The book says
    Leaving is a criminal offence. Never leave "to get help", call from the scene.
    It should say
    Smitning is leaving to avoid your duties. Going for help, when that is what the situation needs, is not smitning.
    Why
    A mistake. Lagen om straff för vissa trafikbrott 5 § targets leaving to avoid your duties.

Which edition you are holding

A correction names the editions it applies to. The ISBN is on the copyright page, just after the title page.
